what’s with the name?

A little over a year ago, I was trying to come up with a blog name.  I had previously been blogging for a few months on wordpress.com and I had changed names like I changed clothes.  I couldn’t settle on anything I liked, and I was annoyed with not being able to customize a theme to my liking.  Roaming around blogland, I ran across a blog that many of the blogmoms are already familiar with, Rocks In My Dryer.  I thought, now there’s a catchy title.  It immediately had me asking myself, how did she come up with that name?  Turns out her youngest son left a handful of rocks in his pocket, they ended up in the dryer clanking around and the phrase stuck.

I started thinking about my home, my housekeeping, and what I did every day.  No, I don’t clean my couch every day but I do vacuum underneath the cushions frequently.  However it does not matter how frequently I do it, there are always crumbs, Hot Wheels, coins, papers, markers, lincoln logs, puzzles pieces and anything else you can think of buried in there.  You’d think we used it as a dining room table.  (We actually only snack there.)  In January, I went to work designing/drawing a image for the top of my blog to match my title theme.  My couch isn’t really red, but it seemed to be an appropriate color to stand out.

As for the purpose of my blog?  Just finding humor in the day-to-day situations that life and parenting throws at you.  Let’s face it, life with kids usually provides ample opportunity to laugh.  This is my online journal of memories, from the big things I’ll always remember to the little things I’ll forget within a few days, and everything in between.  I hope you stay a while, and if you’d like a cleaner place to sit, you might want to try one of the chairs in the corner where you can’t see the TV, cause nobody ever sits in them :)

    I like the new changes. I mean, I really loved the black background, but the green honeycomb is so summery! And the new font and color to match is too cute! Am I a HUGE dork for noticing these things!!!
