the hidden forest

Caleb and I wandered over into the neighbors yard on Sunday (no one has lived there in years, and they are just beginning to make repairs to sell the house).  This neighbor’s yard is sort of situated in the corner of a cul-de-sac.  We walked through the backyard, and down this path about a car and a half wide.  It was sort of strange, like this secret little oasis back there.  So close, yet it seemed like a different world.  It was so quiet and the way the sun filtered through the trees, it made everything look so peaceful.

I found you a leaf

And there was even this old house back there.  It was boarded up and had holes going under the porch and a door on the side that opened onto a 10-15 foot drop below, no deck, or remnants there of.  The back of the house had a little bridge leading over a perhaps used-to-be creek.  I’m sure it looked like a river last week with all the rain.  But it is overgrown with ivy.

Looking back down the path

The trees created a canopy

What a cool place! I love the shot of Caleb on the bridge. And the one of the sun through the trees. Great shots!
