13 Things I am Thankful for:
- My family, my wonderful husband who works so hard for us and our beautiful son who is absolutely the light of our existance.
- Our health, Caleb’s health
- Our home, a roof over our heads
- Plenty of food to eat…it is so easy to take the simple things for granted
- Our safety and freedom, thank you to all of the troops that aren’t able to eat Turkey and relax with their families, all of the officers who are riding in patrol cars today instead of hanging out at home watching movies, all of the fireman who are putting out cooking escapades gone wrong
- The love that Caleb has for Charley, his little giraffe. He talks to him and makes Charley talk back in this high pitched voice. Charley tells me goodnight and that he loves me
- A magical upcoming Christmas that will be on tape with a new video camera to capture that amazement that only a child on Christmas morning can display
- The way the house smells right now with my first homecooked Thanksgiving meal in three years
- The gorgeous autumn that we’ve had this year, driving around and seeing the colors in their peak has just taken my breath away
- Friends…I may not keep in touch as I should, but when I find two seconds to hide out in the bathroom where I can hear most of what you’re saying over the cars and trucks ramming into the door, I really cherish our time catching up
- Hugs…from family, from friends, from my two year old, when someone wraps their arms around me in a warm embrace
- Memories I have with my grandmother, I can’t help but think of her today, our first Thanksgiving without her, I can hear her laugh and remember how stubborn she was, how I’m sure everything was proper and perfect when she prepared her own Thanksgiving feast, and how I’m sure she, more recently, ordered those around who were preparing her meal, making sure that they did it according to the Zula standards
- And really, it wouldn’t be complete if I wasn’t thankful for chocolate!
