I’ve spent Caleb’s entire naptime reading about natural cleaning alternatives. I’m trying to use up my current arsenal of namebrand stuff. I can’t bring myself to pour it out or dispose of it (through hazardous waste recycling). I figure, the important part is that I’m committing to making a switch and finding cleaners that are better for the environment. A few more times cleaning with the harsh stuff can’t be so terrible. Cough, cough. Sneeze.
Not to mention that you don’t get the unpleasant and harmful odors…but did I mention how much cheaper it is to clean like your grandmother used to? I can’t believe the price comparison. Often you can find large containers of some of the natural cleaning staples (vinegar, baking soda, borax, etc) to save even more by buying in bulk and cutting down on packaging waste. I’m just dorky kind-of excited. Sad. I never thought I’d see the day when I would be so excited about newly found cleaning knowledge! I’m even thinking about making laundry detergent. Shhh. Don’t tell Scott. Does $0.01 per load make your ears ring just like mine??! I’m picky about laundry detergent. I like the Tide Pure Essentials, Citrus Extracts. Like really picky. It has a fresh non soapy smell. So I might make a batch, adding some citrus essential oils, and see how it does. I’ll letcha know.
