We just went to the bank, and there was no one else in the line. They had one of the roped off lines that you feel so stupid going through when there is no one in it. I once saw a comedian doing stand-up on this topic. He was walking back and forth across the stage pretending like he was talking to the teller with the big enzyte bob grin on his face. He kept going back and forth and was like “Do you have a map? I’m gonna have to stop for gas and a drink, etc etc” Anyway, I stood there while the three tellers handled one car at the window and one person in front of me at snail’s pace. Caleb was weaving in and out of the rope line, going underneath each one. I know I shouldn’t have let him to begin with. He has some stranger anxiety. I think he waits for my reaction, if I don’t greet the person as if I know them, then he gets uneasy if that person is closer in proximity to him that I am. For example, if he is at one end of the aisle and I’m near the middle and someone turns to come onto the aisle at his end, he comes running toward me whimpering and grabs my leg. But when we went to Georgia and I greeted everyone with a hug, he climbed up in their lap two seconds later. Well a Hispanic guy came in wearing a t-shirt, jeans and a straw hat. Caleb was over on the other side of the ropes, and he panicked. He darted under them and knocked one off completely right in the guy’s path. He was nice enough to pick it up for us. Caleb was standing in front of me huddled up against me by the time the guy came up behind us to wait in line. He peeked around me and said in the loud voice of a child in a quiet place, “Wook Mommy, dare’s a cowboy behind you!” He of course repeated this approximately 12 times during the remainder of our wait in line.
