hopping on the potty train

We talked about the potty all week last week. How Caleb is old enough to use the potty. How annoying completely old unnecessary diapers are, and how he was ready to stay dry during the day. How he could wear big boy underwear when he learned to use the potty.
So today we are starting. No more waiting on him to show interest, because it seems I might be buying Depends if I keep waiting on interest. I read a lot online and decided to take one mom’s approach. Since he doesn’t care when he’s wet, we’re just going to sit on the potty every 20 minutes today. I’m preparing myself for a super long day. Tomorrow, we’ll move it up to 30 minutes, and so on. Hopefully we won’t have to use the timer long and he’ll begin telling me when he needs to go. I bought some of the Feel & Learn diapers that get cold when they are peed in. I can only assume that would be a strange sensation that he would come and tell me about. I found a cute little potty train-ing chart at Child Avenue (pdf file here) and added a little color last night. When he makes his way down the tracks, he will get a surprise. So wish us luck today!

Best of luck to you both! Ugh. Hugs to you- I know what these next days are like!! Good luck!
I love that chart! I might do something like that for the staying dry at night. So far we’re 3 or 4 nights dry. Might help Daniel to understand we can go somewhere fun if the train gets there, you know?
