he might not understand, but he remembers

Caleb received a gift yesterday from his great grandmother. She had seen something in a catalog that she wanted him to have, so she had her daughter order it. It looks like the order date was October 5th, she passed away that night. I saved the packing slip. He loves it. It is a Noah’s Ark with a Christmas tree or sorts on the top. The animals were all carefully wrapped individually in tissue paper, so he had fun waiting to see what each new animal would be. He would tell me over and over as I opened it, if he had identified it through the tissue paper, and tell me what the animal said when it was unwrapped. I went ahead and put it on the mantle. Sure it is a little early from a decorating sense but I’m sure Walmart has been carrying Christmas items for at least a month now. Caleb keeps asking me to get the big boat down, I’ve had to explain numerous times that it isn’t a toy, it is fragile.

I asked him last night if he knew where his great grandmother was. “Up in Heaven,” he said, pointing up towards the sky.
