eggstravaganza – day 2: do you see what I see?

Do you have it figured out yet?  9 balloons, a bowl of water, flour, newspaper, and scissors.  Mmmm, great, paper-maché balloons, you say.  I see giant Easter eggs!  Maybe I should have included pastel paints in the picture, I was in a hurry.  But guess what is in those balloons?  After much struggle, a few balloons with holes, and a couple broken fingernails, the balloons contain:

  • 6 Hot Wheels cars (2 per balloon, 3 ballons)
  • 1 miniature Wooly Willy – do you remember those??  The guy with the chubby face and big nose with the metal shavings inside and you use the little magnet wand to give him a beard or hair or whatever.  They had a 4 pack in the party favor section of Target.
  • 1 LARGE pack of stickers (that is going to be one huge egg!)
  • 1 Anamalz giraffe (you might wish to put items like this in a plastic bag just in case)
  • 1 3t shirt!
  • 1 pack of expanding foam dinosaur capsules
  • 1 beach ball

The website where I got the idea (which I have lost now), suggested using dental floss or another type of substantial string to wrap around the balloon.  Paper-maché over it.  Leave a bit sticking out of the balloon when you’re done.  This creates a easy rip-open (think the post office priority mail boxes/envelopes).  I’m planning to hide these eggs outside Saturday night and we’ll have a flashlight egg hunt.  I’m excited!  Right now.  Not sure how I’ll feel after I paper-maché nine balloons.  I don’t have much time either.  I probably should have started this activity a few days earlier.  That’s okay, I know Scott is excited about helping me.  Right honey?  Yes, he’s excited.  He gives me this “look” at some of my hair-brained ideas and watches from afar thinking “Oh goodie, another ‘project!’”
