memory monday

Your current obsession: shoes. Everyone must be wearing them. At all times. You bring me my shoes when you find them. You point at my bare feet. You look up with these huge, blue questioning eyes. Why? Why would I even consider going shoeless? Yesterday when you awakened from your nap, you came in the room ever so quietly. You were dressed in only a onesie, because I thought your pants would be uncomfortable for naptime. Instead of finding us, you put your shoes on…the wrong feet. So in you walked from your nap, wearing a onesie and tennis shoes on the wrong feet looking all grumpy and sleepy. Priceless.

We decorated Easter eggs one day last week. This is as brave as I got with a toddler. Eggs and stickers. We’ll save all that permanent egg dye for later :)

Please note the yellow egg near the top center of the tree.
It has approximately 10 stickers placed one on top of another

What kid doesn’t love bubbles. You are no exception. We found that going outside with the bubble gun shortly after a rain preserved the bubbles when they hit the ground. They did not pop until 1-4 minutes later. It made for an interesting effect.

The birthday party was a success. Overall. But next year, just us. Just myself, Scott and Caleb. We will plan a special birthday trip somewhere maybe. I’m tired of party drama. This aunt and uncle #1 didn’t come because they don’t get along with that aunt and uncle #2. Which is due to the fact that aunt and uncle #2 are assholes. I’ll cut my kid’s hair when I damn well please thanks. I don’t need to be told every single time you see us that he needs a hair cut. And certainly not 5 times.

We are hoping to score tickets to Go Diego Go Live later this month. I would love to get good seats on the front row of the first balcony. It will be held in Charlotte in June. Something to look forward to in the blazing hot weather. Something indoors.

I sent out birthday pics this morning as Rachel Alcorn. Should be interesting to see if anyone says anything. I am leaning towards a courthouse marriage at this point, because I don’t want my parents involved. I’m tired of the half-ass-I-don’t-really-wanna-be-here attitude. I wish they would give up ‘what might have been’ and focus on now, and their beautiful grandchild. I mean look at em…he is pretty darn cute!

This is Taylor…her mom works with Nadine

So I went a little overboard. Okay a lot. Did I mention lately how much I love my camera?

So this kid does indeed have a little memory bank up there… I’ve probably told him 100+ times in his life what a cow says. Not one single time has he ever attempted to repeat what I say. He either looks blankly at me, or keeps looking at the picture. But the sponge is working. I know it. Tonight he comes walking by me with a little stuffed Gateway cow that I bought years ago because I thought he was cute. He points to the cow’s mouth and clear as day says Moooooo. I was of course delighted. Then he put the cow in time out and ran off! Love this kid!

Edited to add: Yes I realize that the 22nd was a Thursday. I created ‘memory monday’ when I transitioned to the new blog address, thus throwing off day of the week for this entry, but I thought it belonged in the category anyhow. :)
