can I cry now?

I don’t know why I hadn’t realized this.  I just got an email in my inbox from BabyCenter titled “Your 32 Month Old.”  I had lost track of the months, but was holding on to hope that he might still be 29 months old like someone turns 29 on their birthday for the rest of their lives.  Somehow 30 something months seems so much older.  It doesn’t make sense to tell people how many months old your child is anymore.  It is like this unspoken code of parents.  Everyone just understands.  Your baby is born, and he is X days old until about 10 days.  Then he is X weeks old until around the 12 week mark.  From that point on, you measure in months.  My child is 21 months old.  Shortly after the second birthday, less people seem to ask how old your child is.  Perhaps they are just marveling at the fireball of energy whizzing past them.  But it is easier to just say, he’s two, or two and a half, or he will be three in X month.  But you know what?  He will be my baby forever.
