Bubbles are easy to make and hard to photograph! You wouldn’t even believe how challenging until you try. I know I didn’t. Since they are in constant motion, it is hard to get them in focus (with the shallow depth of field that I like, so that they don’t just end up lost in the picture. When you can get the focus and snap quickly enough, the results are fascinating though. The reflection of color. We were outside the other day doing bubbles in the late afternoon sun. I stood there watching how spectacular they looked when the sun caught them and reflected all sorts of purples, blues and reds. Then when they burst, a shower of tiny sparkles would explode into the air for a split second. Oh let me go get my camera, I thought. What I didn’t think was, exactly how likely am I to be able to snap a picture in focus on a bubble, as it is bursting. Slim to none.

Not quite in focus, but I love this picture. You’ll see why his hair is wet in a minute…

See what I mean? How cool is that?

And that?

HA! Bet you thought I didn’t get it! The bubble right behind this one burst.  Look at a bigger version, it is really cool.

I’m armed with bubbles, just go ahead and try me.

Sassy doesn’t begin to cover it.

If you look above his head, he’s standing under a leaky gutter, that’s why his hair was all wet.

What’s in here? Bubble stuff?

Ah well, who needs it.
