Sorry for blog stalking you too- Amber gave me the address once and I got addicted! It's funny how entertaining kids can be, huh? Anyway, at least I'm not a random stranger- I went to school with Amber, in Iarc, and I met you once, back in first year, when you visited with Amber. As far as lenses go, I went pretty cheap- I figured it was worth it to spend the money on the camera and upgrade lenses as I make money. My favorite lens is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II (it's the one that is oh so dreamy!). And the others I got are a Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 (this is my wide-angle and was used on the picture of Max outside at my parents house), a Sigma 10mm f/2.8 EX DC Fisheye, a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro (although I'm not really impressed with this lens, so don't bother), and a Tamron AF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.69 (this is the zoom lens I used for the pictures of Max outside in his diaper). I love to have a small depth of field, so naturally my favorites are the ones with the lowest aperture. And right now I feel woefully inadequate, I'm still learning how to use all my new equipment- I'm hoping someday I'll feel like I know what I'm doing! I'm planning on doing whatever I can get- I've thought about doing just families or just weddings, but I like variety so I'll do anything that requires a camera. But check out tarawhitney.com: she's out of California and I LOVE what she does- on her blog she has a list of what's in her bag and that's where I found the 50mm f/1.8. Ok, now that I've finished my novel I will go, hope this all helps!
