a second blog

I think I’m going to start another.  What am I thinking?  We’ll see how it goes.  But I was standing in the kitchen yesterday morning as Caleb was eating his breakfast.  He looked over at me and said, “Mommy you drink your green drink.”  Yes, sadly, I am addicted to Mountain Dew like some people are addicted to crack.  Eh, some people say coffee.  I say, your coffee has more caffeine than mine, so there!  I shook my head and said “Mommy needs caffeine.”  Then it dawned on me, what a great website!  I shrugged, surely it was taken.  But I looked it up anyhow.  I could barely believe it when I saw “Congrats this domain is available.”  So after mulling it over, I grabbed it up today.  So you can enjoy me in two places sometime in the near future.  Aren’t you excited?  Yeeees you are, I can tell!  Well what’s this blog gonna be about, you might wonder.  Well this is what I hope: my passions in parenting.

I swear I am going to add to/finish the carseat information area.  The one that’s been hiding down there in the bottom left corner of this blog.  That has a nice start, but no real information yet.  Yeah that one.

Also, I think I’ve made a decision on homeschooling.  I’ve decided not to decide.  :)   Let me explain.  I’ve put it a solid week’s work on Caleb’s Christmas list.  I wouldn’t really say he’s getting a lot of toys.  I mean he is, but he isn’t.  Most of his list is more along the lines of activities.  Things that we can do together.  I got several Cranium games, which I can’t wait to open up, as well as some Cranium fort things.  I decided to go with this over a pop-up tent because it does require some thinking and planning.  A puppet theater, an easel and a huge container of K’nex also made the list.  I already threw in the towel on my dining room and turned it into a play area, so now the plan is to convert it more toward a play/learning area.  I would like to get a large beanbag or some floor pillows or something and make a reading corner.  I want to find one of those long low bookshelves like you might see in a elementary school.  Right now no one bookshelf holds all of the books, so they are on various shelves around the house.  I want to stock up on art supplies as well.  All with the idea that after Christmas (starting with the new year), we’ll try to get on some sort of schedule.  Not so much a time oriented schedule, as just a routine where we do X in the morning, Y after naptime, run errands on Z day.  But having some planned activities in there, rather than just coming up with something on rare occasion.  We pretty much do the same thing every day.  He just free plays between meals, with a nap thrown in the middle.  I know I could be making more out of his playtime, so that is my new year’s resolution of sorts.  I would like to progress towards a homeschool environment, and just take it one day/one month at a time and see how it goes.  As school age draws closer, I guess I will re-evaluate where we are, and how I am feeling about all of it.  But at least, whether I decide to keep him home or send him to school, he will be prepared either way.

Oh yeah, of course there will be plenty of pictures on the new blog as well ;)
