here are the two diesels pulling 32 cars …takes two to match the power of the new 2-10-2
Here is my little engineer running the new 2-10-2 pulling 25 cars….incredible….
Here are pictures from the train store in Gibsonville. They have a Polar Express…Lionel…Caleb was fascinated and kept running around the table following it.
the Polar Express has his complete attention here

ain’t macro great
Monkey comes today , so we will be going to the train store (Bobby’s Hobbies) in Gibsonville Saturday. Found Bobby’s two visits ago as I wanted to take Caleb to a new place we had not been before.I called to see if they were open and the lady said yeah from 10 – 2 so off we went. Well the store I remember was a shop that had a little bit of all kinds of hobbies Trains, models, RC cars n trucks n planes, puzzles and lots of tinker toys. When we arrived the store I knew was closed so I called the lady back and said what gives, you said y’all were open, she said we are but not that location. Didn’t know there was another. Well the lady came and fetched us and took us to the other store…just a short walk, well the other store had nothing but train stuff…heaven. Caleb picked out a passenger car with an overhead observation deck, and wanted everything else in the place… so we will be returning to Bobby’s this weekend … he has a few things Santa has his eye on also. After the trip to Bobby’s we will be goin to tanglewoodf for there festival of lights…they boast of over a million lights that you ride through in your car…takes about 30 – 45 mins to do so. You may know of Tanglewood in another way…they have the PGA tour there. Now for the fun part…Caleb has never met his oldest uncle Johnny, who lives in Colorado and I loathe very much… long story. Johnny is in town visiting one of my other brothers who has fallen ill, but will be fine …anyway my sissy has decided to have a brunch Sunday afternoon and all will be attending… can’t wait. I’m sure there will be lots of pictures this weekend and will post next time.
The big brown goodie truck came by today with stuff from Santa….only problem is the sender requires a signature at the time of delivery which means I can’t sign the slip and them leave it tomorrow…I guess thats a good thing for me and them, oh well leaving in a few to go to Greensboro to get it…bout 45 min. to an hour one way but like I said I would move a mountain for my little boy so a car ride (see earlier post The great Christmas tree hunt) is not a big deal at all…don’t forget to leave a comment
I have moved the train table into the living room so Santa can add to it for Christmas. What follows is the commission of the act….to start here is the table prior to the move
and here is Caleb’s entire fleet
motive power
All this started back last Christmas when Rach and I decided to get Caleb a train set for Christmas…he was in love with the Polar Express movie and we wanted to get the Polar Express set, however its only made in O Scale and only licensed to Lionel. Lionel is a little bigger than the size/scale we have now and knowing what I know now I’m so glad we decided not to go with the Lionel set, it also has three rails and be honest now, who has ever seen three rails in passenger or freight service in real life…not in this country anyway. Plus the size of the house I live in does not allow for any expansion of the Lionel line. But any way back to the beginning…Caleb started with one set that was a passenger train that we were gonna get painted and detailed to look like the Polar Express , it was a steam engine and a tender with three passenger cars..total cost was about $130.00 shipped to the house , thanks to eBay . Not sure it was gonna be a big hit …so if not it wasn’t a huge investment. However it took off like a rocket now we have seven engines (powered) two non powered, seven passenger cars and about twenty seven assorted freight cars…cost thus far…about $1100.00 before Santa. After Santa we will be approaching the $1500.00 mark. Now I know your thinking… damn thats a lot to spend on a 5yo but my little man is worth a lot more than that besides as long as dad is around to maintain everything it should last a life time……and then some. Ok back to the move at hand. I built the table on a standard 4×8 sheet of plywood framed by 2x4s since the original build it has expanded into an L shape that measures 9ft 2in on the long side and 8ft on the short, being built at different times and knowing that I may move someday I wanted it to come apart to make the a fore mentioned a little easier.so here to follow are a few pictures, also are a few of Caleb working it…
Notice something missing …well duh, all I can say is I would move a mountain for my little monkey…
In the next picture it has a few pieces of track still attached….these are the pieces that have wire running through the table to keep things nice n neat
and here is the parts you will never see again
getting close now…hard part is over
all one piece again…
whew…. the track is good to go … now all we need is the fleet
and here they are…had to pause every now n then to watch Potter
The tv and cabinet will be moving to the room where the train was as soon as time warner comes and moves the cable…the couch and chair will be following suit. Link to the video is soon to follow as soon as you tube is done doin maintenance until then here are a few more pictures
…now how did that get in there …oh well tis the season, Merry Christmas
